Working with Sovereign Landing - Information for local agents
Who can work as a local agent with Sovereign Landing?
In a nutshell: Anyone who can provide real value to the customers of Sovereign Landing.
That’s a bit vague, so let’s drill down.
It may help to think of the Airbnb model: with their platform, in theory anyone can make money by becoming a host. Not everyone can become a good host though.
While many of the best Airbnb hosts are professional in what they do, that doesn’t mean a good host would need to have that as their primary source of income. You can be great at what you do while still doing other things for living.
As a Sovereign Landing agent, you need some other main source of income, as you can’t expect Sovereign Landing to be your “main job” – hopefully it could be a major income source at some point, but don’t count on that in the beginning.
That’s where the comparisons between agents and Airbnb hosts end.
With the Sovereign Landing business model, the partnering landlords are closer to the “Airbnb host”. Your main job is to find these landlords, and connect them with the Sovereign Landing customers (by making videos of the places for rent).
Quality is at the heart of Sovereign Landing
Unlike Airbnb, not just anyone can sign up to “try their luck” with Sovereign Landing. Quality is at the heart of everything we do, and you need to have some kind of a convincing value proposition. What previous life experience allows you to do this well?
There can be a wide variety of different answers, so specifying a single profession might be misleading – so don’t be discouraged if you’re not a professional real estate (rental) agent. While having that kind of an understanding of the local market would definitely be helpful, you can still perform well in this role while building that knowledge on the fly… if you have other complementary skills, like anything to do with customer service – which is more about attitude than anything else.
This doesn’t have to be about professions. This isn’t a job interview. Your main requirement is to be able to convince customers that you can provide value to them. Nobody cares about your CV, so don’t stress it – it’s ok, and desirable, to be creative!
There are some minor “internal requirements” such as being able to operate a laptop, but if you’re obviously valuable to the customers, these internal requirements won’t be an issue… so focus on the customer from the beginning!
Is this well paid?
Please note that Sovereign Landing is not a company and will not be offering you “a job” or “employment”. You will be acting as an independent agent, meaning that you work with, not for Sovereign Landing. It is 100% up to the customers whether they want to hire you or not. You are paid directly by the customers, not Sovereign Landing, and therefore Sovereign Landing can’t guarantee you any income.
Being independent also allows you to price your services freely. You need to pay Sovereign Landing a cut for marketing, IT services, video editing, and quality systems, but you get to keep the majority of the revenue. It’s highly recommended to start with low prices until you can build some social proof and trust with your first customers, but ultimately you can charge whatever the market allows you to charge.
Payment comes from the customers only (landlords are non-paying partners, not customers)
Please also note that for with Sovereign Landing, you will be paid by the customer and only by the customer. With traditional business models, agents are often paid by the landlords. Sovereign Landing business model is different, and being paid by the landlords won’t be possible as that would twist up the incentive structure.
We work for the customer and only for the customer. That doesn’t mean that the landlords wouldn’t also benefit from this work – they do – but that benefit is how you sell the idea of working with us to them. That situation then benefits the customer, who pays us, and it all works out beautifully! 🙂
How to apply?
Before applying, note that Sovereign Landing is an early stage startup, and as such we will be figuring things out on the fly, together. Not everything is ready, and that’s ok!
Among those not-ready things is the Agents onboarding process, which I would like to already exist but I guess we’ll figure it out 🙂
Let’s not make it complicated though, because it doesn’t have to be. Below you can find a simple instruction video I made about how to introduce yourself to the customers. Start with such a video about yourself (which will mainly be for your future customers, not me!) and we can then talk.
Where to send the video?
This is one of the things that might need improving, but for now you can just send the videos to me in Telegram (you can find the name of this business there by searching, I won't write the exact details here as that can invite spam bots). You can also contact me in the chat here in the lower right corner if you have any questions, but use Telegram if you can.
Does the idea of making an introduction video make you feel nervous?
Trust me, I get it.
Making the above video wasn't really at the top of my list of "things I WANT to do"!
I also know that if this business is to go anywhere, videos will be absolutely necessary. And if I don't lead from the front, that has a tendency to lead into issues later down the road...
The thing about fears is that when you scrape their surface, there's usually nothing behind them. Another thing about them is that the more fears you confront, the more succesful you will be in life.
Fears are a guide to show you a path forward in life. If you feel fear about appearing on the video, scrape that surface a bit and see what happens. Make a video just for yourself at first. You don't have to send it to anyone.
Yes, the camera will make you feel very self-conscious and you may not like how you look and sound - but here's the thing:
The customers don't really care!
They are not here to see you, they're here to see the places you will show to them on the videos. This introduction video will be in place just to get them to see you're a real person. The details of you matter little. This isn't a dating site 😉
So put things into perspective, forget about fretting over all the little details, and just make a quick video. You'll find that it's not that hard! 🙂
